One thing that struck me was how observing was a new experience for your supervisor. We should all be watching others all the time - that's how we learn, compare, gather new ideas. reflect. If you have the chance to organise a yearly peer observation programme in your institution, this can be a great supplement to 'formal' observations - please have a go! (There are a few resources and a chat on this on the auselt.com blog if that helps!) Looking forward to reading more on your blog :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7828415387916366867.post-87049537749191457302015-04-06T15:10:02.470-07:002015-04-06T15:10:02.470-07:00Thank you so much, Hilary, for this comment. Though it is daunting, it's also invaluable to be observed. It's nice to have some choice as to where and when, as well.
I have observed some amazing lessons - one was perfect, from beginning to end; every student in a 3 hour literacy class was on task every moment! I have also seen many good techniques demonstrated that I would not have thought of.
I have also seen things that make me feel more comfortable with the different way that I operate.
Those of us who have the opportunity to observe are lucky. Those who are observed by a competent observer are also lucky, both for the feedback and the opportunity to reflect and grow.Hilaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01638892690194775960noreply@blogger.com
