I'm envious of my friend Claudie (@thespreadingoak), covetous of her recent trip out west for BC TEAL's conference and anniversary carnival. I've followed some of the weekend's Twitter activity. Sounds like I missed juicy stuff. Were most workshops recorded? Any chance I can read someone's notes or watch a webcast?
One of the workshops I would like to have attended is "PBLA: Boon or Bane?"

ReplyDeleteWe have just recently heard that after being through one strenuous round of PBLA implementation the funders have decided to release PBLA.2 which we will have to adjust to. I really hope that more funding for more pay and more paid time is part of the reboot because at present I am working too many hours underpaid and unacknowledged.

DeleteThank you for taking the time to comment and for using a pseudonym so that we can all know how many people are posting anonymously. I want to share here for the first time publicly the fact that at my agency, we have been granted five minutes of PBLA prep time per classroom hour, which we block together into something that works out to about 1.5 paid days per month for PBLA module writing, assessment tool creation, and marking of all those assessments. It really helps. (Of course we are still doing a ton of stuff on our own time, as all teachers do.) I think this should be a rock bottom minimum for any employer requiring implementation of PBLA. --K
